Gathered on March 30, 1842 with 44 charter members, East Congregational Church was the last “offspring” of the Old North Church in Concord, organized “for the greater convenience” of the members residing in East Concord. Land owned by Jeremiah Pecker, Jr. on the current Mountain Road was selected as the building site, and the cornerstone was laid on June 9, 1841;
it remains the second oldest original church structure in Concord.
Today we continue as an active, vibrant church of the Congregational tradition, a member of the United Church of Christ since 1961 and part of the Merrimack Association of the New Hampshire Conference UCC. We are an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ, extending God’s extravagant welcome to all!

Accepting these as the supreme commandments of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we, East Congregational United Church of Christ of Concord, NH, open our doors and ministry to all, affirming and honoring the dignity and worth of each. We believe each of us is a unique creation of God. We welcome people of any age, race, gender, sexual orientation, economic status, physical, emotional, and mental capacity, and those in traditional and non-traditional families.

There are varying reasons that people give for first coming to "East Church‟, but nearly always the same one for staying: the warm, inclusive, family atmosphere. We are a caring community that honors our older members, cherishes our children and youth, and enjoys everyone in-between! We appreciate knowing everyone by name. Our service, Communion, and hearts are open to all!
